Graduate student to bike 100 miles for lupus

After being diagnosed with lupus in 2010, graduate student Jackie Saunders said the disease took a toll on her appearance. “I did not recognize the person looking back at me in the mirror, because the disease had morphed every inch of my outward appearance,” Saunders said.

MSU baseball sweeps doubleheader against Central Michigan

MSU won both games of the doubleheader against Central Michigan Tuesday at Theunissen Stadium in Mount Pleasant. The Spartans held on in the first of two against Central to win the postponed Clash at Comerica, 5-4. MSU hopes to maintain its momentum from the doubleheader sweep into the Big Ten finale against Penn State this weekend. Sophomore right fielder Jimmy Pickens had a big Tuesday, Pickens went 3-7 with 5 RBIs in the two wins against Central.

The first thing that comes to mind about changes in the summer is usually the sun, the rising temperatures and what to do to pass the time; however for MSU Culinary Services, changes come in the shape of closing down dining halls, altering the hours and even testing out new dishes.

Apparel and textile design senior Elonda Willis said although MSU is not the top-ranked school for fashion design, it has a program students can really benefit from. “I’ve learned so much in the past three years that has prepared me for the real fashion industry,” Willis said.

Following a dramatic come-from-behind victory over Illinois on Senior Day, MSU maintained control of the No. 6 spot in the Big Ten standings. However, MSU fell out of sixth place into seventh after winning only one out of three against Iowa this past weekend.
