Athletic sophomore keys Spartans in crucial assist role

It all started when her coach noticed she was tall and left-handed. At that time, Natalie Emro, who was playing on a 12-and-under club volleyball squad, was asked to be a setter for her team. And she’s maintained that role in her current position as setter for the MSU volleyball team.

Thanksgiving weekend will provide tough task

The MSU hockey team won’t have to miss Thanksgiving dinner Thursday. Even though the No. 8 Spartans will host No. 15 Wisconsin and Minnesota on Friday and Saturday in the annual College Hockey Showcase, MSU head coach Rick Comley is giving his players Thursday off.

Police brief 11/24/09

A 41-year-old man fell and suffered minor injuries between 8 and 8:30 p.m. Nov. 17 on a sidewalk behind the Kellogg Center, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

Dreaming up the dorms

Students will be encouraged to dream a little in the upcoming months as university officials consider their visions of what makes a perfect MSU home. Administrators are working on a plan they call the neighborhood concept — something that will distinguish separate neighborhoods and provide a new living experience for students who live on campus.

Council to discuss taxicabs, Sec. of State consolidation

East Lansing City Council members are expected to discuss several topics at their Tuesday work session, including the location of taxicabs in the city, a resolution about the proposed closing of the downtown East Lansing Secretary of State branch office and the CATA/Michigan Avenue project.

ASMSU moves forward with health care plans

ASMSU’s plan to formulate a health care plan for students was given the green light Thursday when Student Assembly approved a bill authorizing the group to begin working with an insurance agency to flesh out specifics.
