It was far from perfect, but it was progress. That’s the view MSU hockey (1-2-1) head coach Tom Anastos had of his team’s series against Niagara last weekend, in which it came out with a win and a tie.

People have been asking me what’s been wrong lately. Apparently, I’ve been off. I tell them all I’m just fine, but the truth is, maybe I’m not. But there’s just nothing for someone to say to “I think I’m losing myself” or “I don’t know where home is anymore.”

Rebuilding MSU Dubai, Middle Eastern programs

In the summer of 2010, Firas Nabil entered the two-story location of MSU’s Dubai campus for the last time, only to be told he could not return. And Nabil has not looked back since. “Honestly, last time I checked on MSU Dubai was two years ago when I left,” Nabil, a construction management senior, said.

Dept. head, colleagues remember professor

If chemistry professor Gregory Baker’s colleagues had to choose one word to describe him, they would pick integrity. “Greg was a person who you could always trust, and he was somebody (who) you’d always know … was being honest with you,” said chemistry professor Gary Blanchard, one of Baker’s colleagues.

The Residence Halls Association, or RHA, the Council of Graduate Students, or COGS, and MSU’s undergraduate student governments provide services, funding and a voice for MSU students. With their contributions to policymaking at MSU, The State News decided to catch up with a few members of these governing bodies to find out who these student representatives really are.

Bowl bound?

After losing to No. 20 Michigan (5-2 overall, 3-0 Big Ten) 12-10 on Saturday, the MSU football team (4-4, 1-3) has gone from a team fighting for a Big Ten championship to one hoping for an invitation to a bowl game. The Spartans will need wins in two of their final four games to reach postseason play.
