Champions have been crowned, nets have been cut to shreds and the final buzzer has sounded for MSU winter athletics, bringing despair to some Spartans whose seasons ended too soon and sweet relief to others whose seasons couldn’t end soon enough.
The Best in Fall Sports 2012
With the fall semester coming to a close, the State News sports desk gathered around its very small round table to discuss the season’s top performers and come up with the best of the best of the best in MSU sports in the fall. Arguments were made, deriding laughter was heard, tears were shed, but we finally compiled the official State News Best in Fall Sports 2012.
Prognosticators: Week 12
The MSU football team has its final home game, while hoping Wisconsin and Ohio State lose to boost MSU’s Rose Bowl chances. The sports desk is joined by a guest progger in this weeks progs.
Talented players dot squad
Even though the football team was up and down this decade, there were plenty of talented players to wear the Green and White.
Ryan Miller leads all-decade hockey team
The MSU hockey all-decade first and second teams have a nice blend of players from each era of the decade. The toughest choice in the selection process came between the pipes. Jeff Lerg had a tremendous career for MSU, but we had to give the nod to Ryan Miller, who was only the second Spartan win the Hobey Baker Award.
