Free student legal services extended through 2019

Free legal services for students who pay student government taxes will remain available through 2019 following a contract with Jeffries & Newton law firm, ASMSU — MSU’s undergraduate student government — and the Council of Graduate Students, or COGS.

AIDS at forefront of MSU community during discussion

Members of the black community are stepping up this week to address a sometimes taboo topic — AIDS and HIV. The week was sparked by a conversation between President of Case Hall Black Caucus Jolisa Brooks and President of the Zeta Delta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Paris Wilson. “We both lost uncles to AIDS,” Brooks said.

He hadn’t explained to anyone that he had just learned of his girlfriend, 19-year-old family and community services sophomore Carly Glynn’s, sudden death Feb. 10, 2012, but when he asked to leave work to rush to Snyder Hall to be with Glynn’s roommate, there was no need — the grief and urgency was visible.
