New Welcome Week accomplishes MSU's goals

One year ago, surviving Welcome Week might have meant you didn’t vomit in the street or have a run-in with the East Lansing Police Department. This year, however, it might just mean you made it to class prepared.

A 40-year-old Niles, Mich., woman reported her Cadillac Escalade struck and damaged by another car Thursday while parked in the South Wonders Hall loop. The other vehicle, a 1999 Ford F-150 driven by a 37-year-old New Haven woman, was moving and held at fault for the incident.

Students return to brand-new MSU

MSU freshmen are not the only wide-eyed students roaming campus this week. This summer, the dust settled on renovation projects, programs received upgrades and the former Food and Housing Services reinvented itself to give campus a fresh look even for seasoned Spartans. Amid a shortened Fall Welcome, some students spent the days leading up to the start of the semester discovering campus for the first time, while others rediscovered a changed campus.

It’s time to dust off the ol’ vinyl. As new record stores pop up around East Lansing, Hodge Heckaman, a professional writing junior working at The Record Lounge/Scavenger Hunt, 503 E. Grand River Ave., said the younger audience is gaining an appreciation for vinyl through its dream-like vision of the past.
