Budget negotiations extend late into night
After spending all day and evening Wednesday in marathon budget negotiations, the Michigan House of Representatives and Senate failed to pass a budget by their midnight deadline at press time Wednesday, after the Senate adjourned until 12:15 a.m. without sending a continuation budget to Gov. Jennifer Granholm to avoid a partial state government shutdown.
