Students participate in annual multicultural hall of fame event

After Shruti Agrawal heard about Thurgood Marshall’s impact on the civil rights movement, the accounting senior wanted to find a way to honor his legacy. Agrawal and two teammates hope to win Marshall a spot in the Black History Month Multicultural Heroes Hall of Fame tonight during the group’s ninth annual competition.

It was a convincing win that could have been even more so. The MSU men’s basketball team outdid Indiana in nearly every facet Tuesday night — depth, field-goal shooting, points in the paint and bench production — and handled the Hoosiers all the way to a 72-58 triumph at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind.

MSU to partner with single London campus

All MSU study abroad programs in London will be centralized at one campus beginning this summer, following a partnership with Regent’s College in London. Prior to the agreement, MSU’s London study abroad programs were not coordinated on a single campus, said Brett Berquist, director of MSU’s Office of Study Abroad.

Parking lot closings to start this month

MSU’s parking situation is going to get a little more crowded as spring construction projects near Berkey Hall and Brody Complex commence. Lot 3 near Berkey Hall and Lot 65 near Brody Complex are expected to begin closing in the coming weeks for various projects, said Robert Nestle, university engineer for the MSU Physical Plant Division.

Man taken off Lansing flight

A man who was escorted off a Detroit-bound flight from Lansing was released Monday with no charges, an FBI official said. The man, whose identity has not been released, was detained after he allegedly tried to escape the plane while it was on the runway at Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport.
