MSU archaeology group discovers historic artifacts

Underneath the bulk of MSU’s campus, there lies an array of history, begging to be discovered. Over the years, the MSU Campus Archaeology Program has found boiler buildings and old dormitories, as well as prehistoric artifacts dating back to 1500 B.C.

Nature plaza to replace Morrill Hall in fall

From the dust, smoke and rubble of Morrill Hall, a commemorative plaza arises. The plaza outlines where Morrill Hall once stood with lines of shade trees, flowering shrubs and features a main walkway that aligns with the path of the old hallway, MSU Landscape Architect Deb Kinney said. The walkway juts out, covering where Morrill Hall’s front porch originally was, and contains brick and concrete design resembling the hall’s window motif.

MSU researchers dealing with difficult dog health decisions

The hardest decisions to make in life often involve those who are most dear to us, including animals. MSU researchers have developed a questionnaire aimed at finding common ground between the owner and the veterinarian for helping pet owners make those difficult decisions.

MSU defensive players honored by CFPA

Four members of the MSU defense were recognized by the College Football Performance Awards committee Monday. Seniors Denicos Allen and Max Bullough were nominated for Linebacker of the Year and Isaiah Lewis and Darqueze Dennard were nominated for Defensive Back of the Year honors by the CFPA. Expectations are high for the defense in 2013 with these four returning seniors.

Runaways discovered in Delhi Township

Delhi Township deputies of the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Windmill Mobile Home Park last week after receiving reports of a 15-year-old female runaway being harbored by a 26-year-old man from Delhi Township.

Robbery suspect arraigned Friday

A suspect implicated in a string of unarmed robberies, which took place June 12 in downtown East Lansing, was arraigned in district court June 14, as the East Lansing Police Department continues the search for additional suspects. Charles Marice Allen, 19, of Lansing, was arrested after leading police on a chase into the capital, which ended when Allen and three additional suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot.
