Farms promote local produce

Community supported agriculture, or CSA, can provide an alternative to grocery store shopping for fresh produce. CSA is a partnership between the farmer and the people who buy shares in the farm prior to the growing season, agreeing to share the farmer’s risk, said Elaine Brown, executive director of Michigan Integrated Food & Farming Systems, or MIFFS, a nonprofit, affiliate organization of MSU.

Gallery looking for art exhibits

East Lansing’s alternative art space, (SCENE) Metrospace is accepting proposals for an upcoming exhibit, now through Sept. 19. The exhibit will display the works of individuals and groups of artists from Oct. 24-Dec. 14.

International students on rise as tuition costs increase

Despite rising tuition costs and a lack of financing options, about 500 more international students than last fall are expected at MSU this year, said Nicole Namy, an international student adviser and community outreach developer for the Office for International Students & Scholars.
