A quick glance at Michigan’s unemployment numbers doesn’t seem to indicate the economy is improving. Michigan’s unemployment rate decreased by .7 percent in December 2010. However, the decrease is due in part to unemployed individuals who have stopped looking for work. The work force in Michigan declined by 37,000 in December 2010, partially because of the state’s decline in population.

Two students reported an alleged larceny from their dorm room in West Holmes Hall, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The roommates said the alleged thefts occurred between 1 a.m.

Despite losing, 194.450-191.400, to No. 14 Minnesota on Saturday, the MSU gymnastics team came out confident and dominant on the uneven parallel bars at Jenison Field House, sweeping the event with the top three places. It’s been more than 230 years since angry colonists threw hundreds of chests filled with tea into the cold waters of Boston Harbor, but Elizabeth Marazita said their brave actions have become a staple in American history. Marazita is co-owner of Wanderer’s Teahouse & Cafe, 547 E. Grand River Ave., which celebrated the historic event during “Boston Tea Party Afternoon Tea” on Saturday.
