We are ready to move on

For some reason I always thought my last day of class would hold some kind of celestial significance. I’d even imagined it how it might go a few times this semester — as cheesy as it sounds, I pictured it as a sentimental affair, one where I would show up on time, pay extra special attention and maybe retain a few snippets when I look back on it decades from now.

University officials announce sexual assault awareness efforts

University officials publicly announced new initiatives meant to heighten awareness of student safety, particularly in terms of sexual violence and sexual assault, in a statement emailed to the MSU community Friday. In the statement, Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives Director Paulette Granberry Russell said despite current university efforts in place to protect student safety, “there is more that we can do to educate the MSU community on sexual violence.”

East Lansing Police update description of Cedar Street shooting suspect

The East Lansing Police Department has released several new images of the suspect wanted for killing one student and injuring another on the 200 block of Cedar Street Friday evening. Newly-released surveillance images show the suspect, who shot and killed hospitality business sophomore Dominique “D.J.” Nolff and injured another student, entering and leaving the complex on Friday evening. The updated police description indicates the suspect is a black male between 6-foot-1 and 6-foot-3 inches tall between 20-25 years of age who weighs about 170 pounds. At the time of the shooting, the suspect was wearing a black North Face jacket, tan pants and black shoes.
