Dantonio unveils Spartan Stadium renovations on Twitter

MSU football head coach Mark Dantonio gave his Twitter followers a glimpse of the new Spartan Stadium renovations earlier today. The $24 million renovation to the north end zone of the stadium, scheduled to be completed before the start of the 2014 season, includes new locker rooms, a media center, a training room and recruiting lounge.   Dantonio's photos include a panorama of locker room upgrade, murals next to the Ben & Barb Maibach Welcome Center and player's locker room, and an outside view of the project.

Poetry draws crowd at Capitol

Poets from Lansing and as far as Detroit came to the Capitol building for the free annual event put on by Rina Risper last Thursday. Poetry in the City allows anyone to step up to the mic and recite original or previously published poetry.

Pepper spray banned on MSU's campus, but many students may not be aware

All weapons — including chemical substances — are banned on campus, according to an ordinance set by the Board of Trustees in the 1960s.Ordinance 18.00 Firearms or Weapons, which was first enacted Sept. 15, 1964 and was last amended June 19, 2009, specifically bans the use of firearms, chemical, biological, radioactive or other dangerous substances to injure, molest, or coerce another person. Students concerned with protecting themselves on campus have to resort to other means when walking alone, because under the ordinance pepper spray is not permitted.

Goodrich’s, located in Trowbridge Plaza, was a nearby grocery stop for MSU students. And with its international, organic and store-made offerings, the grocer catered to a variety of tastes.

For MSU student housing co-op, containers provide means of practicing sustainability

In a world filled with perpetual change, sustainability can be a necessity.Sustainability served as a major theme in a Container Gardening Workshop held Saturday at co-op house Vesta. The workshop, created by AmeriCorps and the Mid-Michigan Environmental Action Council cooperatively with the MSU Student Housing Co-op, or SHC, highlighted the idea of sustainable living through the use of growing food planted in upcycled, or re-used, containers.

The band, which has been performing shows throughout the mid-Michigan area for about three years, announced this set as the beginning of a hiatus.

MSU students play integral role in mentoring with Big Brother Big Sisters program

Big brother William Martinez, who is a MSU Ph.D. student studying physics BW, said he joined the program because he simply wants to be there for someone. "I want to be a positive role model," Martinez said. "There's a lot of people who need a little bit more than they have and so if I can just be a little bit of something there, then that's really all I'm looking for."
