Even after a raise of $124,750, MSU President Lou Anna K. Findings from a recent government study will help researchers in gauging the effectiveness of preventative treatments for cancers associated with human papillomavirus, or HPV. The report, released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention earlier this month, said about 25,000 cases of HPV-associated cancers occurred annually between 1998 and 2003.

Josh Rabinowitz and his wife adopted their daughter from Kazakhstan almost two years ago. Rabinowitz, an Ann Arbor resident, traveled to East Lansing on Sunday for the MSU Global Festival after learning of it through a support group for families with adopted Kazakh children.
About 150 protesters braved the cold Saturday night to attend an Alliance of Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, Transgender and Straight Ally Students’ rally for equal rights. East Lansing residents might need to start digging out their shovels and winter coats this week. While most areas reported an inch of snowfall, Okemos received about 2.2 inches.
