“If you take insights from psychological science, and you apply them to problems that need solutions, and you do that directly in an informed way, it's a really timely opportunity to do something that matters," Lucas said. "I saw an opportunity to do science that would make a difference.”
The Spartans are ranked in the top 20 for the first time in two years.
A third generation Spartan, Lieutenant Commander Sean Newman didn't hesitate when given the opportunity to watch MSU aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.
“When I was provost I would say I have 50,000 students, 5,700 faculty and academic staff and then I’ve got about 20,000 souls,” Woodruff said. “I count every cow, every sheep, every goat, every insect in entomology, I count every soul as part of us.”

While Anantharaman doesn't doubt the importance of popular culture in the climate movement, they said there is more to be done. “Getting involved with the political side of all of this, writing to your representatives, joining protests and getting involved with the climate movement," they said. "It's all important, and it's all necessary for us to face this.”
Some students worry, since Stanley’s resignation and the surrounding problems have made national headlines, the overall reputation of the university is changing too.
"Voting should not come at a cost for anyone!" Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum said in a Tweet. The MSU Police will void any tickets received by voters or volunteers on Election Day.
“It’s hard to find different programs here at MSU to support you,” Downs said. “And that’s the worst part about it. You get discouraged because you don’t have anyone in your corner to hold your hand and guide you.” First-generation students ask for more support during the fourth annual first-generation student appreciation week on campus.
The SIRS forms will be revamped to "address what quality teaching looks like on campus." ASMSU representatives also suggested a new model for the presidential search committee, limiting trustee and donor spots to allow more room for MSU community members.
MSU will face Gonzaga in its second Armed Forces Classic appearance in San Diego.
Michigan State and Gonzaga are both juggling the balance between focusing on the game and also relishing in the once-in-a-lifetime experience.
