First U wetland to be completed next year

MSU will soon play host to its first wetland.In collaboration with MSU’s WATER - Watershed Action Through Education and Research - the artificial wetland will be built by a new parking lot on the south side of Farm Lane near the Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education.“Constructed wetlands are a widely accepted way to mitigate non-point source pollution,” said Scott Witter, chairman of the MSU Department of Resource Development.

Court reverses blood-alcohol ruling

LANSING - A judge has to consider a blood-alcohol test taken more than two hours after a traffic stop, according to an appeals court decision released Monday. The Court of Appeals’ 2-1 decision reverses the ruling of an Oakland County judge to leave out Michael Allen Cupp’s 0.12 blood-alcohol content, slightly more than the 0.10 percent that is considered drunk under state law. Police tested Cupp’s blood-alcohol content more than two hours after they stopped him at 1:12 a.m.
