On the one-year anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks the world has ever seen, it is essential that we, the students of MSU, remember that more than 3,000 individuals lost their lives simply because they upheld the democratic way of life. Americans have ignored the threat that terrorism poses to the world’s democratic societies for far too long.

A heighten terrorism alert issued by federal officials prompted the Transportation Security Administration on Wednesday to indefinitely ban all banner-carrying planes over all open-air venues, including Spartan Stadium.The “orange” alert issued Tuesday is the second highest level on the Department of Homeland Security’s scale and is the highest warning issued since the Sept.

Faculty member found dead in home

A 30-year-old male MSU faculty member was found dead in his East Lansing apartment Tuesday, university officials said. An acquaintance of the man requested MSU police check on the faculty member because he had not been seen recently. MSU police are investigating, but the death is not considered suspicious, Sgt.

Two players leave team

Right wing Steve Jackson and forward Pat Brush have both left the Spartan hockey team, MSU head coach Rick Comley confirmed Monday.Jackson, who would have been a senior, and Brush, who would have been a junior, are the third and fourth players to prematurely leave the team since Comley replaced Ron Mason in March.Last month, junior goaltender Ryan Miller left the Spartans to sign with the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres and sophomore defenseman Aaron Hundt transferred to Wayne State.Both Jackson and Brush voluntarily quit the team, Comley said.

Galleries open doors for art walk

Lansing - Thirteen-year old Kaitlin McCue smiled as her dad snapped a picture of her in front of her photography exhibit at Sir Pizza Grand Café in Lansing’s Old Town. The Lansing eighth grader said she was nervous and excited to have her work displayed for the first time Sunday. “I took a lot of people pictures,” she said.

Computer services add printers to campus microlabs

Irritating screeches, jammed paper, poor quality results and student frustration are problems university officials hoped to end by installing new laser printers on campus. The overhaul, administered by various divisions within the MSU computer laboratory, placed new Hewlett Packard 8200 laser printers in 15 residence-hall computer labs across campus.
