Special teams unit cost win

Lawmakers debate bill to protect athletes

State lawmakers are debating a bill designed to protect college athletes from unscrupulous agents, and while MSU officials support it, one Lansing-area agent doubts the policy change would have much impact. The Uniform Athlete Agents Act would require agents provide information about their prior signings, add a note to contracts warning signees they could lose their college eligibility and give athletes 14 days to cancel signed contracts. MSU athletics director Ron Mason said he supports the bill.
