Nintendo goes high-tech with new Game Boy

There's a saying on "Good things come in small packages." Although that's not always true, Nintendo makes it certain this time around with its newly redesigned Game Boy Advance SP, which launches in North America Sunday. No bigger than a folded dollar bill when closed (though it is 1 inch thicker), this little gizmo is truly a tiny work of art. Not only does the SP make it the first truly portable Game Boy because of its compact size thanks to a flip-screen design, but Nintendo has also thrown in a number of other new features that really make it "shine" above anything the company - or its competitors has put out before. People can now slip the SP into a pocket and take it anywhere without scratching the screen.

'Black & Bruised' graphics good, gameplay horrible

It has every feature to make it the must-have boxing game for next-generation consoles. It has great graphics, promising gameplay and wacky characters to keep it entertaining. Unfortunately "Black & Bruised" got knocked out tripping over the ropes and never even made it to the first round. At first appearance, this game is dazzling.

Local band to celebrate release of new album tonight at Rick's

Getting the ball rolling on a new record is a daunting and dubious task for a local band. Recording studios are expensive, and finding the right professionals to help put the music to disc is never simple. But East Lansing's The Flow took matters into its own hands and built a home studio to record its new album "Aurelius," which will be available at the band's CD release party tonight at Rick's American Café, 224 Abbott Road.
