It was interesting to read about Abaries Farhad’s adventures with cruelty-free cuisine in your blog I’m a Vegetarian: Days 1 and 2 (SN 1/19), While it is admirable that she is trying something new, it was surprising that there was no mention of the many mock meat dishes that have become standard in a today’s vegetarian diet.

MSU community gathers to watch, react to inauguration

As President Obama was sworn in and millions around the world witnessed history, members of the MSU community celebrated the event around campus. Students gathered and watched the events on TV in the International Center and hundreds of MSU faculty, staff and students crowded the MSU Union Ballroom to view the inauguration on a projection screen.

Washington — It’s official: Barack Obama is the 44th president of the United States. Obama told a crowd of more than a million that stretched from the inaugural platform at the U.S. Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial in the distance that the nation must choose “hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord” to overcome the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.
