Dance center opens downtown

For many students moving to MSU in the past week, it can be stressful to make the transition to campus life. Tiffany Russell understands this stress and has modeled her new dance studio, Spartan Dance Center, 217 Ann St., to serve a young clientele of dancers in the area who want to get away from the pressure of school.

One Book, One Community author speaks

The city of East Lansing and MSU are looking to foster a partnership similar to the camaraderie inspired by the 2005 Hurricane Katrina disaster through this year’s One Book, One Community program.

BMX rider comes to MSU as part of tour

Casually flipping and spinning his bike Monday on MSU’s campus, professional BMX rider Terry Adams was living his dream. Adams is on a monthlong college tour promoting flatland BMX riding and the energy drink, Red Bull.

Modified class schedule today

Fall semester classes begin Wednesday, but students are to attend their Monday class schedule. Thursday and Friday classes will be held at their regularly scheduled times. This arrangement gives every class equal meeting times throughout the semester. A student with a statistics class held on Wednesday and Friday and a chemistry lab held only on Mondays, for instance should not attend statistics, but should go to chemistry.

Students informed of tailgating times

MSU is reminding football fans of tailgating times and rules for the upcoming season. If a game begins at noon or 1 p.m., parking lots are scheduled to open at 7 a.m. while lots will open at 9 a.m. for games with 3:30 p.m. kickoffs.

Defensive line looks for players to step up

The alignment of MSU’s defensive line remains uncertain as seven players are listed as possibilities to start for Saturday’s game against Western Michigan. The depth chart released this week has more than one possible starter at three of the four defensive line positions.

Soccer passion should transfer from World Cup

The 2010 World Cup in South Africa pushed soccer back into the mainstream light, and college students especially began to watch soccer with extreme passion. Their passion doesn’t have to stop with the World Cup, as MSU’s soccer team’s are worth watching as well.
