An intoxicated 23-year-old male from Hillsdale, Mich. allegedly assaulted two people and kicked in a car passenger window early Sunday morning, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

Flu vaccine expected to be more effective

Last year’s flu season conjures up images of long lines, repeat visits to the doctor and vaccine shortages, but with a new vaccine, local health officials are expecting a much smoother process this year. The 2010-11 vaccine, distributed by the federal government, will attack three strains of influenza including the H3N2 virus, the influenza B virus and the H1N1 virus, said James McCurtis Jr., a spokesperson for the Michigan Department of Community Health, or MDCH. “It’s hard to say, but we hope numbers (of flu instances) will be down this year,” McCurtis said.

Crowds of students and East Lansing residents came together Wednesday evening to bring merge the two halves of a community. The event was the kick off for the Community Relations Coalition, or CRC’s, annual neighborhood block party at the Bailey Community Center, 300 Bailey St.

Letters are dead; long live letters

This semester, the “Letters” section of the opinion page started out with a bang. First, there was the letter from an MSU alumnus castigating the greek community for paying lip service to what the author felt was a serious problem. A week later, the vice president of the fraternity in question responded in another letter.

Waste awareness brings bad habits to forefront

MSU has taken heed to the complaints about cafeteria food on campus being lackluster and has provided students with a dining experience known as Brody Square. Attacking the square in droves, students are acting such as a child in a candy store would: “I want this and that. Oh, and that.”
