Watching 3-D sports brings game to life

What they say is true: Everything is better in 3-D. Except maybe the scoreboard of MSU’s matchup with Syracuse. In conjunction with Comcast Corp., ESPN and MSU gave participants the opportunity to watch the nightcap of the Jimmy V Classic, matching MSU and Syracuse, in 3-D.

SCOUT BANANA fundraises for children in Africa

Austin Melcher has been to Africa and has seen the potential in the people there — but money and resources are lacking. So Melcher participated in a fundraising soccer tournament hosted by the MSU chapter of SCOUT BANANA Saturday at Munn field to benefit an after-school program in South Africa, helping children affected by HIV/AIDS.

Shakespeare workshop comes to MSU

Like some high school students, Mason High School senior Myah VanWormer said understanding the works of William Shakespeare often is difficult. However, that hasn’t stopped her from participating in the Shakespeare Immersion Project held this week at MSU. The Shakespeare Immersion Project, put on by the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, located in Stratford, Ontario, selected 24 students from area high schools to participate in a weeklong Shakespeare workshop, said Edward Daranyi, resident teaching artist for the festival.

Theater students, faculty host Haunted Aud

Being a theater major, senior Lauren LoGrasso spends much of her time in the Auditorium and she still gets freaked out when she’s there by herself at night. An alleged haunting in the Auditorium makes the Auditorium and Fairchild Theatre a natural fit for the Haunted Aud, a haunted house event produced by MSU theater students and faculty, theater senior Mikayla Bouchard said. The Haunted Aud is in its second year on campus and the group plans to hold the event annually, Bouchard said.
