Cousins takes control of Spartan offense in win

Throughout the early portion of the season, junior quarterback Kirk Cousins took a back seat to a dominant MSU rushing attack that made throwing the ball seemingly unnecessary. On Saturday against Northwestern, the roles were reversed when the running game struggled for the second week in a row, and Cousins responded with one of the best performances of his Spartan career.

MSU should take an active role in drug education

More than 13 percent of MSU students reported illegally using Adderall or other unprescribed stimulants within the past year. That seems like a relatively small percentage of students, but when compared to the 93 percent increase of students nationwide abusing prescription drugs such as Adderall and Ritalin between 1993-2005, the number is much more startling.

It’s time for midterm exams, and students are logging extra hours with their noses buried in textbooks and poring over lecture notes. Some of them will amp up the caffeine intake; others will sacrifice sleep for study. And another portion will turn to Adderall and other study drugs to get through the grind — whether they have a prescription for them or not.

Police Brief 10/22/10

A vehicle sustained about $800 in damages after a hit-and-run incident sometime between the night of Oct. 10 and the morning of Oct. 11 in Lot 59, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

Students participate in multicultural dance

Skirts twirled, music filled the air and bodies swayed Thursday evening as the Abbot Hall cafeteria was transformed into a multicultural dance floor. Groups including the Breakdance Club and the Ballroom Dance Club performed and taught students dances ranging from the hustle to the rumba. “(The dance will) bring people together of different backgrounds,” said interdisciplinary studies in social science and community relations junior Devin Evans, an intercultural aide at Snyder and Phillips halls.
