Men's tennis handed first dual loss

The MSU men’s tennis team lost their first dual of the season to Mississippi State on Friday at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility. Although both teams entered the matchup with perfect dual records, Mississippi State defeated MSU 5-2.

MSU ties Lake Superior State, loses extra point in shootout

When a team develops a knack for giving up late goals, sometimes it comes back to burn them. Such was the case Saturday night for the No. 16 MSU hockey team as they squandered a third period lead yet again to close out the series with No. 19 Lake Superior State with a 2-2 tie, with the Lakers coming away with the shootout win for the extra point.

Men's basketball beats Purdue 83-58

Draymond Green knows it’s not rocket science. After the No. 9 MSU men’s basketball team snapped a two-game losing skid Saturday by beating Purdue 83-58 at Breslin Center, the senior forward said there was one major difference between the win against the Boilermakers and the losses to Northwestern and No. 19 Michigan.

Last-minute goals push Spartans past Lake Superior State, 4-2

It looked like a bad bounce would add to the late-period scoring woes once again for the No. 16 MSU hockey team. On a puck clearing attempt by senior defenseman Matt Crandell, the puck bounced off Lake Superior State forward Kellan Lain and in to the net to tie up the game with a little more than three minutes to play, sending a wave of exasperation through Munn Ice Arena.

Congress calls off vote for SOPA, PIPA laws

Two days after several top websites protested legislation many have said would harm the Internet’s free flow of information, Congressional leaders called off the vote on the SOPA and PIPA laws originally scheduled for Tuesday.

If a plan is approved by the MSU Board of Trustees at its April meeting, officials plan to invest $30 million to $40 million during the next 10 years to start MSU’s transition to 100 percent renewable energy — the ultimate goal.
