Far be it for me to praise our enemies over in Wolverine country, but I must applaud officials in Ann Arbor for their common sense marijuana policy.Instead of jail time, misdemeanors and probation, Ann Arbor police issue $25 tickets to individuals found in possession of up to an ounce of pot. Like a traffic ticket, violators are responsible for paying the ticket but do not have any criminal charges to worry about.

The Greek community competed in MTV Night, an intense dance competition Tuesday night at the Breslin Center as a part of Greek Week.MTV Night, also known as Bar Night, is an intense, technique-based dance competition that is an integral part of Greek Week, a philanthropy event that brings sororities and fraternities together to raise money for Relay for Life.Months before Greek Week begins, the names of one sorority and one large and one small fraternity are pulled out of a hat by Greek Week coordinators.Fourteen teams of three are created, and each team unites to raise money for a charity and get points.

Lansing to host music, Brewing fest this month

Live music and beer will fill Adado Riverfront Park in Lansing April 18-19 at the Microbrew & Music Festival.More than 100 performers are scheduled to perform, including popular bands such as O.A.R., Dirty Heads, Cosby Sweater and The Lansing Unionized Vaudeville Spectacle.
