An intricate green vine painted on the cement floor of the horticulture building entices visitors to follow the brush strokes to the colorful, wooden screen door of the MSU Butterfly House.It is one of many horticulture gardens featured around campus.The butterfly house, established at it's current locale about 13 years ago, has been a consistent attraction for families and students alike.

Sparty statue vandalized with Go Blue spray paint message

While walking to class Monday morning, some students may have noticed a new addition to the Spartan Statue. Late Sunday night early Monday morning, an unknown person spray painted “Go Blue” on the front of the statue. Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations Scott Westerman said he does not think the vandalizer is a U-M student.

COLUMN: We should not allow chivalry to be dead yet

The essence of chivalry is dead.Not just in America, but all over the world. As a German belief and standard of courtship, chivalry is much like the age of the dinosaurs—part of history.While it’s true that the course of meeting people and dating has evolved, it’s sad to see the value of respectful wooing of the opposite sex long since diminished.When two people meet at a party, all it takes is a guy to sink a beer pong win to get a girl’s attention.

Letter: Graduate Employees Union thanks MSU Board of Trustees

Fellow members of the MSU community:I write today to thank several people. First, in January of this year, a systematic underpayment of approximately $100,000 to graduate teaching assistants from last summer was resolved through a mutually pleasing agreement between the Graduate Employees Union and MSU.

'Go Blue' painted on Sparty statue

In the middle of the night, an unknown vandal spray-painted 'Go Blue' on the Spartan statue.The graffiti was quickly cleaned up by Infrastructure Planning and Facilities officials after they received a complaint around 8 a.m.

Tribute to Lacey Holsworth painted over

An unidentified group has painted over a memorial at the rock on Farm Lane for 8-year-old Spartan basketball fan Lacey Holsworth. As of Monday morning, the Rock was covered in a fresh coat of white paint with a message that reads: "Congratulations graduates...be a hero to someone" in green lettering.
