When a person thinks of what an average college experience is like, a number of stereotypes quickly pop up. For example, they might think of a frat party with excessive amounts of drinking. Or maybe they’ll think of a nerdy kid constantly in the library with his head buried in a pile of textbooks. Neither of those hypothetical college students are doing anything wrong. The truth, however, is a combination of both extremes and everything in between.
After the early morning stabbing of a 19-year-old MSU student on Sept. 7, an alert was sent out to all who were signed up to receive them. This time, the alert came to students through a host of communication channels — through text, phone calls and emails.

The 25th annual Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational took place Friday afternoon, where 30 teams from across Michigan came out to compete. After returning from Oregon Sunday, MSU’s cross country team was exhausted from the traveling and the intense meet that past, meaning the athletes looked at the Spartan Invite as more of a workout than a high-intensity meet, according to redshirt junior Leah O’Connor.
