The Bath Township Police Department released a sketch Wednesday for the suspect of an armed home invasion in the Village at Chandler Crossings. According to a statement from the department, police received a call at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 15 from a group of students who said they were robbed at gunpoint.
Plans for developing the property located at 500 Albert Ave. and 122 Division St. still are up in the air, a situation that has remained uncertain since the late ‘80s.
An East Lansing man was arrested Oct. 19 for allegedly assaulting an MSU student and awaits his pretrial next week.
A domestic assault occurred at about 3:15 a.m. Oct. 19 in Holden Hall, according to police. The victim, a 19-year-old female student, told police she and the suspect, a 19-year-old male student, were riding in an elevator in Holden Hall when he assaulted her, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The victim told police the suspect was her ex-boyfriend, who got upset when he came to visit her and saw her with another male student.

A perceived prank with a $100 bill attached to a string went awry Tuesday night when an unidentified man reportedly jumped out of the bushes near an East Lansing church. The pretrial of Vernon, Mich resident Oswald Scott Wilder has been moved to 2 p.m. Oct. 28 in Ingham County Circuit Court. Wilder, 26, confessed to sexually assaulting four MSU students in East Lansing earlier this year. Proponents of a new bill moving through Michigan’s House of Representatives are looking to increase the penalties on drivers who injure or kill pedestrians and cyclists. The proposed legislation, sponsored by Rep. Ed McBroom, R-Vulcan, would amend a current law which details the punishments for moving violations that result in criminal penalties for drivers who hit agricultural equipment operators on Michigan’s roads.
MSU police are investigating the attempted theft of ?two student employees’ paychecks through the hacking of their direct deposit accounts. According to a crime and safety alert sent to students Sunday afternoon, the employees told MSU police officers they received emails on Friday confirming changes to their direct deposit settings on the EBS payroll system.
A new addition to downtown East Lansing is bringing more than 100 insurance jobs to the city, a move local officials hope will encourage more students to stay in the area after graduation. Jackson National Life Insurance Company has a new office in downtown East Lansing, at 333 E. Grand River Ave., in the space formerly occupied by Barnes & Noble. The company is set to open formally in November.
