On a packed Saturday night with a crowd of over 5,500 fans, No. 4-ranked Notre Dame defeated the Spartans 2-0 as MSU fell to 7-8-1 on the season. This was the first shutout loss for the Spartans the entire season thus far.

The Spartans looked strong early, and with newfound optimism around the program, there were moments it all garnered to the forefront.
Going into the game against Notre Dame a point of emphasis for men's basketball head coach Tom Izzo was to contain the Fighting Irish' best player, Bonzie Colson.
Here’s what players and coaches had to say after No. 3 MSU blew out No. 5 Notre Dame at the Breslin Center, 81-63 in the ACC Big Ten challenge. Sophomore guards Cassius Winston and Joshua Langford led the way with 17 points. Winston also led the way with seven rebounds. Sophomore wing Miles Bridges scored 14 points and tallied a game-high six rebounds. With the win, MSU improved to 6-1 on the season, while the Fighting Irish fall to 6-1.
It wasn’t a career night for either sophomore point guard Cassius Winston or sophomore wing Miles Bridges, but the duo gave the Spartans a new look.
