After assisting his hockey team in winning the two-game series against Minnesota this past weekend, sophomore forward Mitchell Lewandowski is named the Big Ten Second Star of the Week on Tuesday.

Due to scoring a power-play goal in the first period of Saturday's game and the game-winning goal during the second period of Sunday's game, Lewandowski stood out last weekend in helping the Spartans to victory.

This is Lewandowski's fifth career weekly award, and most recent award for MSU since Taro Hirose being named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week on Jan.15.

Lewandowski is ranked at a tie for fifth in goals with 11 in the Big Ten, and is ranked at seventh for points with 25.

The Spartans will travel to Notre Dame this weekend to take on the Fighting Irish both Friday and Saturday.
