From America’s favorite game to America’s pastime, I’ve decided to follow up today’s column of NFL season predictions with a blog dedicated to postseason baseball.
Another Tigerless postseason:
Sorry fellow Tigers fans, our boys faced too many injuries and too many inconsistencies this season to pull themselves out of this hole. Unfortunately, I think the New York Yankees will outlast the Tigers and the Seattle Mariners, as they feast on the bottom of the AL East and the Kansas City Royals for the remainder for the season.
Can’t sleep?
Don’t study or work on homework, watch the most exciting team in baseball: the Arizona Diamondbacks. The D-backs have the best pitcher in the National League in Brandon Webb, and if you like young talent, all I have to say is “wow.” Justin Upton, Stephen Drew and Chris Young are amazing players, and worth the price of admission. Throw in Eric Byrnes (the guy out in a kayak during the Home Run Derby with his dog Tippy) and you have yourself an entertaining bunch.
All bow in Prince’s presence:
Prince Fielder (future 2007 NL MVP) will power the Brew Crew into the playoffs over the Cubbies, proving once again that money can’t buy happiness.
The winners:
American League division winners: Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Wild Card: New York Yankees.
National League division winners: New York Mets, Milwaukee Brewers, Arizona Diamondbacks. Wild Card: San Diego Padres.
The next winners:
AL: Angels over Yankees, Red Sox over Indians
NL: Mets over Padres, Brewers over D-backs (Can you imagine Brandon Webb and Ben Sheets facing off in the postseason? I’m getting goose bumps just thinking about it.)
For the Pennant:
AL: Angels over Red Sox
NL: Mets over Brewers
The quiet superstar explodes
Everyone loves Jose Reyes, and understandably so. But Vladimir Guerrerro is the best player in the game and the Angels are the better team. Angels win in six.
