CHICAGO - Minnesota Viking tackle Korey Stringer, a former star in the Big Ten while playing for Ohio State, died Wednesday after a grueling practice at the Vikings training camp the previous day. Its every familys and every coachs nightmare, Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr said at the 2001 Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon. The 335-pound lineman developed symptoms of heat stroke, including weakness and rapid breathing, following the practice Tuesday held in temperatures in the low 90s and high humidity.
