Dantonio unveils Spartan Stadium renovations on Twitter

MSU football head coach Mark Dantonio gave his Twitter followers a glimpse of the new Spartan Stadium renovations earlier today. The $24 million renovation to the north end zone of the stadium, scheduled to be completed before the start of the 2014 season, includes new locker rooms, a media center, a training room and recruiting lounge.   Dantonio's photos include a panorama of locker room upgrade, murals next to the Ben & Barb Maibach Welcome Center and player's locker room, and an outside view of the project.

MSU landed a new recruit on Monday. Highland Springs, Va., wide receiver Felton Davis II, a class of 2015 prospect, verbally committed to MSU via Twitter.

NHL drafts incoming MSU hockey freshman

Defenseman Josh Jacobs was selected 41st in the draft pick by the New Jersey Devils during Saturday’s second round of the draft in Philadelphia. Jacobs formerly played for the Indiana Ice hockey team in the United States Hockey League for two seasons and is the first Spartan to be drafted by New Jersey since 1984.

Back then, mock drafts had Payne pegged from the late first round to the early second. He had promised his late grandmother Mary Lewis he would finish his degree in interdisciplinary studies. MSU basketball head coach Tom Izzo held the belief that in returning, Payne would expand his game and improve his draft stock.

After going undrafted last night, former MSU guard and Detroit Pershing star Keith Appling will begin the next step of his career relatively soon.Appling has signed a free agent contract with the Portland Trailblazers to play on the Los Vegas Summer League team, his agent Michael Silverman confirmed on Friday afternoon.
