Mark Hollis considering heating the student section in Spartan Stadium

The MSU student section has been under fire this season for poor attendance at home football games, and athletic director Mark Hollis is searching for a solution. Before Saturday’s game against Ohio State, Hollis told ABC 57 that he is looking into the possibility of heating the student section at Spartan Stadium. Hollis previously displayed disappointment in the student section after fans had emptied the section by the end of the Nebraska game.

Valentine powers MSU basketball to 101-46 win over St. Cloud State in final exhibition match

Behind a strong performance by junior guard Denzel Valentine, the MSU basketball team cruised to an easy 101-46 victory over St. Cloud State on Friday night, finishing exhibition season with a 2-0 record. Valentine had a triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in 25 minutes of action. Senior guard Travis Trice led the Spartans with 20 points, and junior center Matt Costello and senior forward Branden Dawson each had double-doubles — 12 and 10 for Costello, and 13 and 10 for Dawson.

The women’s volleyball team will have to wait at least a couple more days to win its 750th game in program history. MSU (13-11 overall, 6-7 Big Ten) could not handle Minnesota (15-9 overall, 5-8 Big Ten) at Jenison Field House on Friday night, losing in four sets, 1-3 (18-25, 25-16, 17-25, 19-25).
