Playboy looks to show off student body

An MSU sophomore with the modeling name Marla Marie fluffed her shoulder-length brown hair, pouted her lips and posed seductively as Playboy Magazine photographer Matt Wagemann snapped shots with his camera Tuesday afternoon. The student was one of about 50 women auditioning for Playboy Magazine’s October 2012 “Girls of the Big Ten” pictorial. Representatives from the magazine held the casting call Tuesday and auditions are scheduled to continue today.

Interest on Stafford Loans will double

Starting July 1, MSU students who choose to help pay for college with the Stafford Subsidized Loan will have to pay double the current interest rate once they graduate. MSU’s Associate Director of Financial Aid Val Meyers said about 15,200 students received the Stafford Subsidized Loan in the 2010-11 academic year.

RHA brings ‘30 Rock’ actor Judah Friedlander to campus

Fans of the popular NBC show, “30 Rock,” have the chance to see the show come to life next month when one of its cast members visits campus for a comedy performance. The Residence Halls Association, or RHA, is presenting comedian Judah Friedlander, who plays Frank on the show, at 7:30 p.m. April 13 in Fairchild Theatre.

Last week while the MSU men’s and women’s basketball teams were gearing up for a championship run, Tyler Luce was helping the MSU Rifle Club win its own championship. Luce, an accounting freshman, participated in the National Rifle Association Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championships on March 13 through 17 at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga., helping his team to their first championship title since the MSU Rifle and Pistol Club was formed in 2004.

Theresa Ford grabbed a life-sized sling shot in the hopes of knocking over Angry Birds plush stuffed animals stacked on a tower of cardboard boxes Sunday afternoon. The computer engineering sophomore was among hundreds of anime enthusiasts who gathered for the Shuto Con Anime Convention at the Lansing Center, 333 E. Michigan Ave. The convention was held Friday through Sunday with various activities including gaming rooms, dodgeball tournaments and a life-sized version of the popular app Angry Birds.

Indian culture highlighted by Satrang at Auditorium
