On Friday, Johnson announced in front of about 600 Spartans that he would be making a $1 million donation to MSU, said Mark Terman, executive director of principal gifts. Terman said he believed the donation was to the university’s athletics department, but he wasn’t sure. Johnson has not specified what motivated him to make the donation or what he hopes the donation will accomplish.
