Renovations to two residence halls and a proposed loan increase to finance MSU in Dubai will highlight the MSU Board of Trustee meeting today. The board’s decisions will involve more than $9 million in imporvements to Holden Hall, more than $12 million in upgrades to Mary Mayo Hall.

MSU seeks loan increase for Dubai campus development

MSU in Dubai is seeking authorization for a $1.5 million increase to its loan maximum on the project, which officials said would allow for more flexibility in potential future expansion of the program. The MSU Board of Trustees will vote at its meeting Friday on whether to increase the loan maximum from $3.5 million to $5 million.

Respected theater professor dies

Frank C. Rutledge taught theater history, and he made theater history. Rutledge, 72, a faculty member of the Department of Theatre for 47 years, died Tuesday night after experiencing cardiac arrest.

MSU fundraising efforts won't decline with Webb's departure

MSU’s chief fundraiser, Charles Webb, will be leaving the university in April, but fundraising efforts shouldn’t lose momentum, university officials said. MSU spokesman Terry Denbow said the structure of MSU’s University Development team is strong, largely because of the example set by Webb.

Jake Yaeger doesn’t want the shootings at Northern Illinois University to become a part of students daily lives. “When I hear about Virginia Tech, (Northern Illinois), Columbine, any of these shootings, now it’s like it doesn’t even matter,” he said. “That’s what I think is the biggest tragedy.”
