Med students receive residency matches

When Inna Lobeck opened the envelope with her name on it Thursday afternoon in the University Club ballroom, she wasn’t just finding out which hospital she would be doing her surgery residency. She was finding the city she will be calling “home” for the next seven years.

Website brings voice to Facebook

MSU social media users now have the chance to make their statuses sound even more personal. On a newly developed website called ShoutOmatic, people now will be able to record 30-second “shouts” and post them to their Facebook or Twitter accounts rather than using just text.

ELPD calls for all hands on deck for St. Patrick’s Day

Originally created to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day has become synonymous with a different type of celebration, often involving excessive drinking. But this St. Patrick’s Day has a different significance for the East Lansing Police Department — it is holding its annual All Hands on Deck, or AHOD, day.

Exhibit to feature Israeli culture

The Main Library is featuring an exhibit until May 31 to help expose the community to Israeli culture and the Hebrew language. The exhibit will feature work by Etgar Keret, a popular Israeli writer of short stories, who also will be speaking at Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road, on March 31, said Jewish studies librarian Deborah Margolis.

Faculty present research at Union

Researchers from MSU had the opportunity to showcase their findings and inventions — among them a new vaccine and a new variety of blueberry — Tuesday afternoon at the Union.
