Apoorv Kalra, an assistant professor in MSU’s College of Human Medicine, was one of nine researchers chosen nationwide to receive Pfizer’s 2009 Young Investigator Antibacterial Research Award for his study on the effects of the antibiotic linezolid on the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, a common cause of staph infections.
The College of Veterinary Medicine will honor more than 50 pets at the annual “Celebration of Life” event from 1-4 p.m., Saturday in the college’s Oncology Center, on Wilson Road. The celebration will honor pets that faced life threatening situations, as well as their owners and veterinarians, according to a statement from MSU.
