Group collects coats, letters at event

On a chilly December afternoon, community members stood in the cold to help collect coats for those who might not have something warm to wrap themselves in during the holiday season and letters for soldiers who won’t be home to celebrate it.

Gospel choir sings at church event

Swaying back and forth and clapping their hands in time, members of the MSU Gospel Choir moved to the music they sang Friday evening. The choir was among several groups that performed at Worship 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church and Worship International Church, 3383 Lake Lansing Road.

After Carol J. Adams’ pony was shot and killed, she had a realization that shaped her life. More than 150 students and community members attended Adams’ Sexual Politics of Meat Slideshow and Lecture Thursday evening in South Kedzie Hall, where Adams spoke of her philosophies.

When Howard Ballein was first hired to work at a bookstore in 1952, he was paid 70 cents per hour. When he opened Student Book Store, or SBS in 1960, books sold for about $6 and the store was 1,800 square feet.
