Election called for Gov. Snyder

DETROIT — The party was over before it even began at the MGM Grand Detroit Casino Tuesday, where Democratic candidate for Governor and MSU alumnus Mark Schauer was announced the loser of the election by major news outlets well before he took the stage. After a race that was deemed too close to call in days prior, Democratic candidate for Governor and MSU alumnus Mark Schauer lost to incumbent Governor Rick Snyder and gave a somber speech following the loss. Similarly, Mark Totten, a MSU law professor who ran in the democrat slot for Attorney General, was outvoted by current Attorney General Bill Schuette.

Student groups look to maintain pressure on police as demands are not met

A week after protesters walked down Grand River Avenue to the East Lansing Police Department, the student groups that organized the protest are looking to take future action against the police, which did not to meet the group’s demands by their deadline Wednesday. About a dozen students met Thursday night for a town hall to discuss the next steps in a campaign to hold East Lansing police accountable in what some called “willful ignorance” in the face of community concerns regarding racial profiling and brutality.
