MSU community grieves on Transgender Day of Remembrance

People gathered on campus Wednesday evening to grieve the loss of those who have been murdered due to transphobia. The event, Transgender Day of Remembrance, allowed students and other community members to memorialize transgender people who died by suicide or murder, and cisgender people killed as a direct result of transphobic violence in the past year.

On-campus Spanish living community to open next fall

The only student-led living-learning community, La Casa, is set to open in fall 2025 for students interested in Spanish. This LLC is led by four student co-chairs who are working to open La Casa in Shaw Hall for students with varying levels of Spanish proficiency to find community and learning support.

Clifton R. Wharton Jr, first Black MSU president, dies at 98

Dr. Clifton R. Wharton Jr, MSU’s first Black president and a community leader and pioneer, has died at the age of 98. During his tenure, Wharton maintained the quality of MSU’s academic programs and was known for his commitment to educating people who are economically disadvantaged.
