U-M column was mindless babble

I have recently read a column out of The Michigan Daily that was brought to my attention by a separate column in The State News (“Daily columnist casts shame on Maize and Blue,” SN 10/13). Now, I know that I am a mere shikse from MSU, but I too would like to express my opinion just as boldly as Erin McQuinn did. When I first set eyes upon the stirring article, “A Weekend in East Lansing makes me appreciate A2,” my feeble, high school-like mind-set was intrigued.

An MSU student was assaulted in her Phillips Hall dorm room early Sunday morning, police said. The woman, whose name was not released, was attacked shortly before 6 a.m.

Longtime WKAR Radio talk-show host dead at 55

The deep, midday voice of WKAR’s Steve Jensen unexpectedly signed off one last time last week.Family and colleagues were stunned when word spread that the veteran reporter and talk-show host for the university-owned public radio station died early Friday morning of a brain hemorrhage.“Him having this was completely out-of-the-blue,” said Melissa Ingells, classical music producer for WKAR (870-AM). “We heard him doing his last show on Thursday and it seemed fine.“We’re all still pretty much in shock around here.”Jensen, 55, was brought to Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital Thursday night shortly after wrapping up his final broadcast.He died hours later.The Okemos resident had worked full-time at the station, which is affiliated with National Public Radio, since 1967.

I am writing to tell you that Rishi Kundi’s column about the Middle East is extremely biased against Palestinians (“Columnist enlightens ‘U’ about Middle East crisis,” SN 10/18) and to inform him why the Palestinians are so angry.

Proposal 2 has a strong concept behind it - but suffers from poor execution. Voters should turn it down and it should be reintroduced later when its purpose, wording and impact are clear.

After six years working for the city of East Lansing, the coordinator of the National Folk Festival will be starting her new job for the MSU Alumni Association today.Sharon Radtke’s duties will be similar to her previous job as East Lansing’s community events coordinator, but on a much larger scale.
