MSU has hired global executive search company Spencer Stuart to aid in the search for MSU’s next athletics director, university spokesman Terry Denbow said Thursday. Clarence Underwood, MSU’s current AD, retires in June, spurring the nationwide search. Denbow said Jed Hughes Jr., a consultant for Spencer Stuart’s San Francisco office, was on campus Monday, learning about the university community to help narrow his search for a viable candidate. “The group is going to ascertain what qualities and expectations are good for MSU,” Denbow said. The State News wrongly chastised seven members of the MSU Board of Trustees in an editorial Wednesday for not sending word to ASMSU that they couldn’t attend a forum to discuss if there is a need for a voting student member of the university’s governing body. Contrary to what we said, all eight trustees sent word to the undergraduate student government, either directly or through the board’s campus office that they couldn’t make it.
