I am appalled by the column "Girls, put on some clothes; this isn't America's Next Top Hoochie" (SN 9/28). The State News should be ashamed of the message it is sending into our community.
After MSU junior quarterback Drew Stanton purchased the NCAA Football 2006 video game, he ripped apart the front cover of the box, displaying a photograph of former Michigan receiver Desmond Howard. Being an in-state player from Farmington Hills, Stanton is all-too familiar with the competition that exists between MSU and U-M.
There is no doubt that the article "Ex-staffer charged with embezzling" (SN 9/27) thoroughly explored the legal and ethical ramifications of Raye Grill's alleged actions.

Lansing Mayor Tony Benavides might be facing allegations of accepting illegal campaign contributions after a Michigan group claims it filed a complaint against him Wednesday. As ASMSU members met with city residents on their front porches - or even inside their houses - they reminded people to be responsible this weekend during the University of Michigan football game. "We need to explain to people what it means to be a Spartan," said Andrew Bell, vice chairperson for external affairs for ASMSU's Student Assembly. Members of ASMSU, MSU's undergraduate student government, went to neighborhoods off Grand River Avenue on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, talking with residents and passing out fliers from Olin Health Center about partying safely.
I bet you Spartans fans are licking your chops right now. It's not something you have the opportunity to do very often, so I'm sure you're making the most of it. Yes, it's true.

Bridging the awareness gap between students with disabilities and their peers was the focus of this week's MSU Disability Awareness Week on campus. The Council for Students with Disabilities sponsored several activities this week, which were aimed toward informing people of the disability issues prevalent on campus and in society. Next week, a national Disability Awareness Week will be observed. Val Erwin, history junior and president of the Council for Students with Disabilities, said the week shined light on issues many don't know about. "A lot of people on campus feel students with disabilities are nonexistent," she said.

As a former resident, I miss many things about East Lansing - Smoke-filled bars isn't on that list. In fact, I didn't go to places such as Crunchy's or The Peanut Barrel after their kitchens closed because of the smoke.

"The Greatest Game Ever Played" may be somewhat of an exaggeration but there is definitely an exciting golf match enacted in the film. The movie is derived from the historical events of the 1913 U.S.
Shortly after Michigan and MSU wage war on the gridiron in Spartan Stadium on Saturday, a second, equally competitive round of battle will take place to determine - once and for all - which university is the true champion of the intrastate rivalry. Students from the two respective schools will face off in a weekend-long burrito eat-off to coincide with the football game between MSU and Michigan.
I recently read Mark Twain's "The Mysterious Stranger," a bitter reflection on mankind, religion and morality.
It was just his eighth game as a defender after originally coming to MSU as a running back. For senior Jaren Hayes, it was his stiffest test, a date with Michigan star receiver Braylon Edwards, the future No.
Michigan at No. 11 MSU Fish: Beware the danger that a wounded Wolverine poses. Don't think they aren't capable even though they are unranked and 2-2. With that being said, the Spartans know what they're in for.
If you've got company coming over this weekend from Ann Arbor for the big game, they're going to want to be entertained. Here's a list of comparable hot spots so it'll be easy to decide where to go for post-game celebrations.
