Many questions will be answered about the poise and talent of both Michigan and Northwestern when the two teams meet on Saturday in the Big Ten's most intriguing matchup of the week. Wildcat quarterback Brett Basanez, who has started in 35 consecutive games, is one of the hottest players in college football coming off a huge road win at MSU.

Successful seniors prepare for final run

Nina Mastracci, Erin Konheim, Dana Voorheis, Emma Harris and Emily Wiegand will play the last regular season game of their collegiate careers Friday. This group of MSU seniors will finish their careers against rival Michigan this Friday in Ann Arbor.

Fashion show raises fair labor issues

Members of Students for Economic Justice, or SEJ, held a fashion show featuring MSU apparel Tuesday in front of the Administration Building. The event was meant to show students and staff that merchandise bearing the MSU name and logo might possibly still be made in sweatshops. The group also wanted to push university officials to strengthen their role in the Worker Rights Consortium, or WRC, said Courtney Couvreur, a mathematics junior and SEJ member.

A conclusion as to what happened during the April 2-3 disturbances is not included in the most recent draft report of the independent commission reviewing the event. Although charged with taking a closer look at the disturbances, the commission's report doesn't validate student claims of improper police actions or vindicate the police response that night. The group will meet at 7 p.m.

MIDDAY UPDATE: Study shows women earn half as much as men

Top female executives in Michigan consistently earn less than their male counterparts — an average of 49 cents to the dollar — even though since 2003 female representation on top companies' boards of directors has risen slightly. A study released Monday, shows women's hold on the top 100 largest publicly held corporations in the state is slipping. The Women's Leadership Index was the second study conducted by the MSU Institute for Public Policy and Social Research concerning women in top business positions, said Nat Ehrlich, survey specialist. "It was started in 2003 to look at how women are doing in leadership roles," he said.
