In U.S. should stay out of Darfur and pay attention to itself (SN 10/9) Young Americans for Freedom chairman Kyle Bristow argues must focus on its own interests, rather than becoming “involved in ending civil strife in Darfur.” While this is an admirable sentiment, he has a few things backwards.

Profane football cheers are derogatory toward women

“One, two, three, first down, b- – - -!” Does this sound like an educated statement to you? It sounds absolutely ignorant to me. There are so many things wrong with using this language in the student section as well as using it at all. As far as the student section goes, we are sending out the message that we are classless, uneducated and have poor taste.

Experienced politician needed

Experience counts in football pressure cookers, any coach can tell you that. After weeks of deadline-induced all-nighter sessions in Lansing, it is apparent that experience counts in politics as well.

Vandals smashed the front window of an excavating machine parked on campus last week, causing $500 in damage, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

Classless. Embarrassing. Juvenile. A burden on the reputation of the Spartans. Call it what you want, but MSU students have created a tradition at football games: profanity. From “First down, b——!” to “F—- Notre Dame!” the cheers have caught the attention of past, present and future Spartans.
