The State News story “Project plan might displace half of East Village residents” (SN 2/27) included incomplete information and one inaccuracy we wish to correct. East Village will allow more students to reside closer to campus at a rent rate students can afford.

Any type of momentum going into the Big Ten Tournament has been shattered. The MSU men’s basketball team tripped and fell down the stretch as Ohio State pulled the rug from underneath the Spartans’ feet, snatching a 63-54 victory Sunday afternoon at Value City Arena in Columbus.

After defeating Illinois twice in the regular season, the MSU women’s basketball team failed to do it when it mattered the most. Illinois defeated MSU 55-41 on Saturday in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals at Conseco Fieldhouse. The Spartans now have to wait to hear their post-season fate, hoping for an NCAA Tournament bid.

The Spartans went to Columbus riding a wave. It may have been closer to a ripple than a tidal wave, but a throttling of Indiana and a strong road win at Illinois qualified as steps forward for the Spartans.

Alumni reflect on parish's 50 years in E.L.

To Liz Schweitzer, stories are the heart of the Catholic Church. So the best way to commemorate St. John Student Parish’s 50 years in East Lansing, she said, was to put personal stories of alumni on display. Collecting stories and experiences of at least 50 alumni from the past five decades was an easy feat, said Schweitzer, a pastoral associate who has been working at the parish for 30 years.
