A five-star hotel on Mackinac Island doesn’t seem like it would be the best place to conduct university business, but that’s where the MSU Board of Trustees traveled for their annual retreat. The two-day retreat gives the board some extra time to review the past year and see where the university can improve in the future.

Neitzel signs contract with German team

Former MSU guard Drew Neitzel has signed a one-year contract to play with the Artland Dragons of the German Professional Basketball League, according to Eurobasket.com Neitzel played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA’s Summer League earlier this month, but decided to sign with Artland on Wednesday.

I’m “overweight,” according to the body mass index. At 5 feet 2 inches, 140 pounds, I fall just above the cutoff of healthy at 25.6 body mass index, or BMI — 18.5-24.9 is normal, and 25 is overweight.

West Nile testing continues

As reports of the West Nile virus arrive from across the United States this week, experts said the virus’s impact in Michigan still remains to be seen. News reports said mosquitoes carrying the virus have been found in Nevada, California and Washington. But as of Tuesday, there have been no reported cases of West Nile in humans or mosquitoes in Michigan this year.
